Blackout Poetry Take and Make (and Return) – April 1-30
- Grab an old book page.
- Use a pencil to circle words and phrases on the page that stand out to you.
- Read what you have circled to see if it makes sense. Add or eliminate words until it does.
- Highlight the words you chose somehow. Traditional black out poetry is done by blacking out the words that you are not using in your poem. You can also highlight the words you are using or circle them and draw arrows to show how your poem should be read.
- Once you are done, hand your masterpiece to library staff to display or take it home with you.
