Top Chef contestant and award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi will discuss his cookbook My America: Recipes from a Young Black Chef. His cookbook celebrates the cuisine of the African diaspora, “the world’s wisest food.” Onwuachi will share stories behind his family’s recipes, and the importance of the connections between cuisine, place, and culture.
A James Beard award-winning chef, Onwuachi was also named Food & Wine’s best new chef in 2019 and Esquire’s chef of the year in 2019. He has opened several restaurants and was the executive chef at acclaimed Kith/Kin in Washington, D.C.

● On Vimeo. The link and password will be shared with all registrants via Zoom (both those who register and attend and those who register and are unable to attend)
When will the recording be posted?
● 1-2 days after the program (pending actual post-production time); it will remain up 14 days from post date
Will the event be captioned?
● The event will be live captioned.
What if someone needs accommodations?

Can I create my own marketing materials instead of using the materials Illinois Libraries Present provides?
● Yes! Please use the language and images provided to create your own marketing materials.

● If you’d like to stay consistent with the ILP style, the fonts used are Gotham Bold and Helvetica, and the colors are #ED1C24 (red), #FFDE17 (yellow), and #000000 (black).
I need to change the size of the social media images — how can I do this?
● Open the image in Windows Picture Viewer, then click on the ellipsis in the top right corner. A menu will open and one of the options will say resize.
○ Tip: If you choose the smallest option, that should work for Evanced.

What if a patron can’t find/says they never received their Zoom link after registering?
● Upon Zoom registration, each registrant is immediately emailed a unique link to connect to the event.
● The event link is emailed from “Zoom” with the subject heading: Illinois Libraries Present: An Evening with Kwame Onwuachi.
● A registrant can re-register to have the Zoom link re-sent to their email account. Zoom only counts the first time the user registered so this will not result in inaccurate registration numbers.
Can my library host a watch party/screen the live Zoom event to a live audience?
● Yes! This is a great solution if you anticipate some/many community members may not have online access to the Zoom event.

Will books be available for sale?
● We are partnering with four booksellers to support book sales for the Jenny Lawson event: The Book Stall, Bookends & Beginnings, Book Bin, Anderson’s Bookshop and Lit on Fire. Each bookseller will be providing a custom link to buy with them.
● Once firmed up, the links to Kwame Onwuachi book sales will be shared with all ILP members.
● Booksellers will additionally be thanked with their links included in Zoom event reminders, on event night, and shared with event registrants in post-event emails.
