The wait is finally over! For our first book club meeting for adults, we will be reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
Trying to make sense of the horrors of World War II, Death relates the story of Liesel–a young German girl whose book-stealing and story-telling talents help sustain her family and the Jewish man they are hiding, as well as their neighbors.
Our first book club meeting will be on Tuesday, January 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Library’s Reading Room. This meeting will be informal and there will be goodies and a chance to discuss what books we would like to read for future meetings. We will open the front door to Book Club members starting at 6:15 p.m. If the door is locked, please knock and we’ll let you in. You must have a completed member form on file to be admitted into the building.
Reading should be done before the meeting so we can discuss the book. You do not have to finish the book or even read it! If you prefer a digital or audio format, check our digital collections found at the top of this page for a copy.
If you are interested in becoming a Book Club member, please fill out our member form. You do not need to be a member of our library to join our book club, but if you are and would like for us to put the book on hold for you, be sure to include your library card number. You do not need to come to every meeting to retain membership. Once you’ve signed up, join our Facebook Group to get member-only content like polls about what we read!
We’ll see you in January!
